Buns

Had it maybe been later than 9am, I might have been tempted to indulge in one of these Söderberg strawberry buns but there again would I consider £4.80 too high a price to pay for a moment in the mouth and a lifetime on the hips? Probably.

Daughter#1 joined me for a valedictory coffee with my morning coffee friend who leaves her post today at the University to return to the NHS. I will miss her company but she has promised to pop in now and again on her route to Waverleygate .

David came past at lunch time to trim some of the new high shoots on my climbing hydrangea and keep me abreast of all things political and discuss some of the books he’s been reading.

The Book Festival begins on the 10th August and finishes on the 26thAugust with  the marquees now being erected between the EFI and the Quartermile development with various restrictions on pedestrian passage  in operation. The big circus tent has gone up in the Meadows for the start of the Fringe on the 2nd August. Fortunately neither is in my direct view from the house which faces away from the action.  I am not at all sad to be missing the highjinks when I go up to Orkney for the duration.

With Buttaburger still out of action our TGIF drinks are again in the Canopy café within the EFI  and I presume we will find a route through the barricades to access it.
