Downton Abbey

A brilliant day out with the local garden centre.

I did enjoy the series but I’m not such a superfan. I couldn’t ask the questions of the room guides. I just enjoyed this stunning house.

I didn’t know about the link with Howard Carter, discoverer of Tutenkhamun’s tomb, and an employee and funded by Lord Carnarvon, the owner of Highclere Castle (to use its proper name.)

The wildflower meadow, down to the beautiful gardens, is one of the biggest I’ve ever seen and the huge hydrangea plants In the walled garden attracted instagrammers from Japan of whom I took a sneaky shot…..
