'Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe', Berlin.
Incredibly harrowing, incredibly moving. The memorial itself is very unsettling and there is a superb museum under the memorial. The museum is so especially superb because it does such a 'good' job of personalising the horror of the Holocaust. The Holocaust is so often (and rightly) talked of in terms of tens and hundreds of thousands of people murdered in so many different locations and it is hard to get your head around that - this museum does do that but the emphasis is on telling the personal story of individuals and families and it is all the more emotional and harrowing for doing that.
