Seeds and weeds
It's been trying to rain all day, but has never really made it - just a fine mist of microscopic droplets. Stayed in this morning sorting London photographs - I must be nearly half-way through now!
After lunch I drove to the Walled Garden to make sure that my runner beans and peas were climbing the poles and netting. Whatever has been going on? Most of the peas are yellow and dying, many of the runners are nibbled, most have barely grown and I spotted two flowers! Even the potatoes are suffering - some of them are a mere six inches high, some are brown and several haven't emerged, even though they were chitted!
The whole garden is a sea of weeds now that it's almost abandoned - there didn't seem much point in weeding my beds while seeding weeds hovered all around! And to cap it all, the man who wanted to buy it has changed his mind and Green Shoots, who were the main users, have now moved to Dunollie and renovated the Walled Garden there. Duh! I don't think I'll be bothering in future. At least I should have runner beans from the tubs on my deck!
Met a friend in M&S when I popped in to buy a paper. We had a nice chat about growing unusual plants which cheered me up no end!
Quote of the day: 'Sweet flowers are slow and weeds make haste.' - William Shakespeare.
