CHATSWORTH HOUSE
#Most of today was taken up with a wonderful visit to Chatsworth House. We have been before over 30 years ago but we think we just went in the grounds.
#We had booked a wheelchair to get round…a good plan and it was so accessible with lifts to each floor so I was able to really enjoy it.
#We all met up outside the orangery (or shop!!) and made that our base!! Obviously a 5 year old really didn’t appreciate the slow pace around the house so it was ideal to have a place to come back to.
#we had also booked a garden tour on a buggy…even better plan. I loved learning about Capability Brown and Joseph Paxton part in designing this amazing garden. I kept upsetting the tour guide but stating things that he was about to say about Paxton!!! (Only in a fun way)
#The Rev and I left the others to make a quick stop at Bakewell for a tart and pudding!! A lovely town…wish we’d had longer.
#The onto Ashford-in-the-water; a very pretty village with a river. Worth a few photos from The Rev!! He got one of me with the crutches hidden:))) Children were paddling and dogs were leaping in chasing balls. We stopped for a cuppa at the village hotel (but no they couldn’t serve us cake or biscuits!!!…don’t ask…more than my job’s worth!!)
#we all met at the local pub for a tasty Sunday carvery. More amazing views across the Peaks.
A fabulous day.
