Elderflower

We actually have enough flowerheads on our elders this year that we might, just might, have enough berries to make it worthwhile cooking up a pot of jam come autumn.

However as I type the weather is turning and the wind kicking up its heals to blow all the flowers away and with them the promise of a sweet and sticky slice of toast.

Of course, even if the flowers survive I don't know if we'll actually get berries. We've never had any flowers survive long enough to see if the berries will form in the short Orcadian season.

But, as always, every cloud has a silver lining. The clouds may bring rain which the garden could badly do with. I've just realised I can't actually remember the last time it rained, I shall go look through the past few weeks blips to see if I can find some.

Found it... 3 weeks ago, how odd!
