The Pensioner

The First Time

Minky day - and no SK to assist me, either. So after our usual breakfast of summer fruits and yoghurt, and a Tunnocks wafer as I’m a pushover, we walked round to the boat. A perfect day for it. She wasn't remotely bothered with it bobbing and just set to, playing away in the cabin. And then we cast off, gently puttering round to the west harbour before pulling out the foresail, switching off the engine and serenely gliding past the boats on the pontoon. And once tied up, lunch! Except that on learning I had no butter (to go on her pasta) she threw a fit. We can go and get some, I suggested, still being the pushover. Yes, she sobbed. And off we walked to the cavernous Polish supermarket beside the cavernous fishing tackle superstore. Order restored. And after lunch we played awhile before strolling back. An excellent day.
And much later, arriving back in the small hours from the Diggeries, the SK was there, waiting up! And I was able to tell her all about it. Lucky her!
