A bit of basking
Another early morning walk at 6.30 before the heat settled in.
We sat in the garden briefly.
Mr returned home from visiting his elderly mother. She'd given him the compositor apprenticeship contract of his great grandad dated 1892. It's a fascinating document stating his increase in salary for seven years' apprenticeship and the conditions to be followed: no gambling or fornication.
The company De la Rue seemed a prestigious one printing stamps and money. The owner Thomas de la Rue originated from Guernsey. The name on the document is Ernest de la Rue who isn't Thomas's son but must be a relative. Googling doesn't yield any answers to who Ernest was.
I find other people's family trees interesting. I can only go back to my grandparents on both sides but have very little information.
Another warm day tomorrow and then all change again.
Pleasant evening everyone.
