Knitted flower arbour at Claremont

After a swim…only a few in the pool again,  I went to meet a friend for a walk round the NT gardens at Claremont. I haven’t been there for a while and this knitted flower arbour is a new addition! Apparently each flower took an hour to knit and there are 1500 in total knitted by a group of volunteers. I was surprised they were knitted rather than crocheted but on examination they were definitely knitted!

This afternoon I went for a cycle ride, my usual circuit through Home Park and along the towpath and back through Bushy Park and to my allotment. The Hampton Court flower show finished on 7th July but some things still have to be taken away, there were several big lorrys there today and a few skips…one full of empty wine bottles! Lots of scarred grass where track was laid down, and heaps of soil…I’m guessing from where show gardens were constructed…so lots of making good to be done and reseeding of the bare patches.

We had over 2cm of rain last night so no watering needed today!
