Matthew Flinders
Driving back to Lincolnshire, we stopped in the village of Donington close to our destination. The bunting was out in the streets because last weekend the remains of the explorer who circumnavigated and mapped Australia and Tasmania were interred inside the church. His remains had been lost, but with the HS2 extension of Euston station, archaeologists discovered his grave. It had been covered over when the station was extended in the 19th century. He has now been returned to his birthplace.
