Cider with Rosie
“To love a landscape is to love its stories.”
Laurie Lee
Off to darkest Herefordshire for what’s left of the weekend, time for a catch-up with E. She’s planning for some renovation work to the cider barn - dates back to the nineteenth century - and asked if I’d have my camera with me (as if?!!?). Just as well she’d mentioned it, I’d need the tripod for the interiors. Relaxed al fresco lunch to settle in, in the shade of the massive oak framed house she had built – which I photographed and got a commission for a feature from SelfBuild & Design - many years ago. A very bold Robin joined us, as did several goldfinches (but at a more discreet distance), before spending a couple of hours photographing around the barn. W emerged from the undergrowth to show me around, he’d been clearing out the interior otherwise there’d have been no chance of doing any photos. ‘Job’ done I returned for a few more hours chatting the evening away, shades of Shakespeare’s witches around the cauldron.
