The threatened thunderstorms held off this morning but we decided to go to Plan C and instead of walking to Hardcastle Crags, or just going for a coffee in Haworth, we compromised with a circuit of Haworth, pausing halfway round for cuppas and cake in Cobbles and Clay. It was good to have a catch up. V is following friends' advice to say yes to invitations following J's funeral last week, however she is feeling. We did quite a bit of talking about J and V's plans for the future. It was a lovely couple of hours and the sun came out as we left the cafe for the second part of our walk.
Back home it was time to switch on the computer to watch the Knockout Sprint, the final event in the World Sprint Championships in Edinburgh. It was another well planned event with good route choices which caught out several of the competitors. There were four rounds with numbers of orienteers being knocked out each round until the finals had just six men and six women. The courses are short and fast, but still that's a lot of running to do at that level in one day. There was a novel route choice on the semi-final courses, running in the front door and out of the back of a business. They ran past a chap working on a computer who did not seem surprised!
