I have walked past this gate many times but have never properly read the sign. I now know that Smartwater is “a traceable liquid and forensic asset marking system (Taggant) applied to items of value to identify thieves and deter theft. The liquid leaves a unique identifier, whose presence is invisible except under ultraviolet black light”. So, there you have it !
