Seriously?

Nonday

I was in the student centre cafeteria by 08.15, ready to meet my new kids for day one of the second Art class session at Summer School - only to find I was utterly alone. The silence was eerie in this normally busy and noisy area. It was only when a lone figure - the school electrician - appeared to have breakfast and called out 'holiday' in answer to my 'where is everyone' question that it dawned on me - 15th July is 'Democracy and National Unity Day' - a relatively new public holiday to commemorate those civilians who lost their lives in the attempted coup of 2016.
In other words, no classes today.

So I went back home and spent the day doing not a lot , although I did go for a walk to the bakkal in Kurucesme to buy milk, bread, apricots and beer - and while I was out, took today's pic from the bus stop view point of the ever beautiful blue Bosphorus.
