Strange juxtaposition

Of razor wire and coloured paper streamers.  Outside Motion, a big music venue just down the road, which I pass when walking into the centre. There was an event there yesterday and the place was draped with these rainbow colours.
I was just walking for the pleasure of it, as soon as I got there I got a bus home. I saw so many lovely things growing on the riverside path, and in the Castle park Physic garden, I’ve made a collage. In extras: Clematis Travellers joy, Sumac tree, mustard (I think?) and hemp-agrimony 
My thoughts were somewhat occupied by the events in the US a few hours earlier.  Whatever follows, we can’t know yet, but I’m sure it won’t be good. 
The evening brought an entertaining match, and disappointment for the England team and fans.  I thought it was probably about right, really. Spain seems to somehow be a consistently brilliant football nation.  And nowadays, under Southgate, the England team is brave, determined, together but maybe not quite so technically excellent. They’re definitely contending at the top now, with two finals in a row in the euros.  I really hope pundits and fans don’t lay into the manager or players
