Pastel painted pumps

J finished painting her shoes, with M's help, on Thursday, and today she asked me to photograph them for her to share on Facebook. We also ordered coloured laces from ebay, in both pink and blue. It's hard to be sure about the colours until they arrive, but they were not expensive and I hope at least one pair will tone well enough with her choice of paints. 

It was a rather slow, quiet Saturday, much of which seemed to be taken up with J's shower and general care and her meals, with a few little jobs squeezed in between them. I tried to count butterflies for the Big Butterfly Count, but it was chilly and damp and I saw only one meadow brown, despite our large buddleia in full bloom outside the back door. It's been the same all week. Last year we had dozens of butterflies and a good range of species. It's sad and worrying, and I know many people are reporting a similar absence of butterflies this year.
