Sunday Dinner
We got up in time for 7:00 am Mass. Our priest gave a great homily. We had a quick breakfast and then readied our supplies to take the camper back to my mother’s home. We stopped and bought her a few needed household items plus a chocolate filled croissant as a treat. With the hot dry weather, folks are seeing an increase of ants. Hubby put down granules all around our house and I have seen only a few. They are finding their way inside my mother’s house so today I tried to find the source. I emptied her food cabinets and washed them down. It was a good exercise to remind her what foodstuffs she has on hand and what items she no longer wants with her lack of appetite/ability to cook. Plus I will organize like items so she doesn’t over buy. I collected all the cans and boxes in bins and sat them in the spare bedroom until we are sure we’ve eradicated the problem. While I was busy in the kitchen, hubby was disconnecting the camper and putting it in storage mode. We found a 3 inch gash on the bottom panel of our camper’s slide. We are thinking a big truck tire must have hit a large piece of blue chip stone that hit the camper. Hubby has patched it for the moment. My mother sent him to the Knight’s of Columbus Hall to pick up three fried chicken dinners. Oh, what a treat that was. We cleaned up from our meal and I tidied the kitchen from my cabinet overhaul. When we got home, we realized hubby had packaged up my mother’s leftovers from lunch thinking they were his. He hopped in his car and took them back to her. It wasn’t the quiet Sunday I had envisioned but I enjoyed the day as it went. My mother was so thankful but totally uncomfortable that she is no longer able to do many things. And I certainly had a better day than many including those folks affected by the misguided assassin in Pa last evening. Our country is a mess; we need prayers and so much more. I hope your day was more restful. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by. “Sunday was always the best of days for being the self you had intended to be, but were not, for one reason or another.
