Ambiance de fête

I have not been very enthusiastic about life in general these past couple of weeks, too much moping around at home. In the early evening, S suggested going to Fabrezan to visit the art gallery -- we haven't been there for ages, and they now have a very full programme of exhibitions and concerts. It's a Saturday, public holiday tomorrow, it's bound to be open. It was not, despite the displayed opening hours saying it was. Oh well, let's go for a drink in the bar a couple of doors down. Closed. OK, the garden at O Mazette for a drink and tapas. Closed. We ended up at the traditional cafe, on a busy corner with traffic rumbling past inches from the table and a haze of cigarette smoke from surrounding tables. Upside: a very generous glass of rosé was only 1.50. Still, it does seem quite remarkable that this is the height of the summer season, and most places are closed! So much for spontaneity. We went home to eat and drink in comfort.

Pool report: air 18C, water 24C! Ingrid and I were the only takers, though G turned up later on.
