Blanket bog in the flow country

The bog in Sutherland is the most extensive blanket bog in the world. Peat is very efficient in storing carbon: only 3% of the world's surface is covered in peat, but 30% of the world's organic carbon is stored in this peat, more than twice the carbon in all the world's trees.  We camped at Loch Naver last night and went through Forsinard today, where there is an RSPB site with some information boards (where the above statistics were taken from) and a walkway through the blanket bog, where today's blip was taken.
