Grumpy Old Man

A long day

Mrs M gave me a lift down to the station this morning for the 8.50 train to Glasgow. I've often wondered why they didn't just make it 9.00am!

I had some time to kill on Central Station so had a wander around - there was some kind of folk festival on today and the place was full of teenage girls in skimpy costumes! I eventually found my seat in the Quiet Carriage. Not tried this before and as it was the last carriage on the train you don't get people walking through it all the time!

Quite a pleasant journey, bright and sunny, but by the time we passed through Stafford it had obviously rained hard and the sky was dark. We were ten minutes late into Euston, but I had plenty of time to take the Underground to Waterloo where I took this picture.

From there the train to Hampton, but crawled along for some time before coming to a halt. It appears that somebody pulled the alarm and got off the train for some reason, and by some means! That lost us twenty minutes and by the time we arrived the journey had taken eleven hours!

Glad I don't have to do that every day!

Quote of the Day: 'When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don't throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.' - Corrie Ten Boom.
