Grumpy Old Man

Liquid history

A good day today, dry and sometimes sunny. We've both sat outside for while though it's been almost too hot some of the time. The cats both join us and soon slink into the shade of the fence!

I'm off to London tomorrow morning so have been trying to get ready. Not only the usual sorting out what I need to take - I print out a list of everything I might need - but organising the plants both inside and out to make things easier for Mrs M who had agreed to water them!

I'll be staying with my sister in Hampton until next Friday, and hope, as usual, to have a couple of days in London, wandering round with my camera and chatting to all sorts of people. I'll try to visit some new places, one of which I hope will be beside the river, being a fan of Old Father Thames! I'm hooked on Nicola White's Mudlarking videos and would love to find something exciting, though I'm not a registered Mudlark so can't do any digging. My Blip today is of the books I will be studying on the train journey.

Quote of the Day: 'The Thames could be thought of as England's longest archaeological site, and no fewer than 90,000 objects recovered from its foreshore are in the collection of the Museum of London, whose 30-year relationship with London mudlarks is both committed and highly regulated.' - Jean Hanff Korelitz.
