Marjorie's ramblings

The balloon festival

I am about to have a rant!

I booked to go to the Corbridge Balloon Festival this evening. How is it that my excellent powers of comprehension did not allow me to realise that there would be only ONE balloon and that at 10pm!

I was early to avoid queues for the car park. (I had prebooked.) A parable was enacted. Those who arrived first were asked to park up at the furthest point from the event site.

(OK, it was not a huge distance, BUT......)

We had to queue for admission to the field, by which time my electronic ticket had been checked 3 times. At 5pm we were allowed into a fun fair and an empty arena.

Not a balloon in sight.

I tried to amuse myself with shots of the fun fair, some of which are OK. When I glanced at my phone and saw it was 8pm, I had had enough.

As I drove home I saw that is was only  6.30pm. It had just seemed like three hours!

I was home in time to see the second and third sets of the second semi final.

I'm not a huge fan of candid shots but when I saw this young woman sit on the ground for food, I had to capture the moment. I tried this in mono but the baby's hand did not show up.

You will be pleased to know that no babies were harmed during this "meal", but the daughter, about 4 years old, had passed her doll over to be carried.........

Rant over.

This morning I went to see Kay and Eric. Kay had an appointment so Eric and I chatted while she was out. I knitted two more premmie hats while we chatted.

You might enjoy the delight on the faces of the children in my extra. I'm glad that some people enjoyed themselves.
