Found Heart
A two hour shift with the ever-fun and smiling LS today at South Chagrin after meeting her at North Chagrin Reservation. Her GPS stopped working while downtown, so she only knew how to drive much farther to NCR from the far west side. We had a good laugh over it. She took the mandatory photo of me with my completed trail challenge card. (I volunteered at all 18 reservations.) She was delighted to see the tree surrounded with heart-shaped stones, and later on even happier to find a heart-shaped stone that she could place on the tree trunk herself (above). It's the little things...
Along the river we found a small metal box hidden in a hollow tree trunk (extra). On it was written "DO NOT TAKE." I had to report that one to the powers that be. You never know what could be inside. (Probably just fishing tackle).
In the extra you'll see a fisherman to whom I suggested this better spot, and an ebony jewelwing (top left), powdered dancer (top right) and a blue darter (bottom right). Names are according to Seek, so I hope they're accurate. We had to check one another several times for ticks and fortunately found none after making our way through some high weeds along the riverbank. Thanks to Bye Bye Blackfly essential oil insect repellent.
