Hunter and Holly in the garden.

The Feast Day of Saint John Jones. A Welsh Saint and Martyr.

Saint Veronica.

The morning went as usual with a walk and buying our newspaper and Accrington Observer.

I fed the birds, cleaned the cat litter, dried clothes and prayed. I had breakfast and read some of the local paper.

It is cloudy, drizzly at times and 18.1c, not cold enough to put the heating on.

I was watching Holy Mass from Ireland on my Tablet and suddenly Holly rushed into the living room where I was sitting and she had a live young starling in her mouth. I told her firmly to drop it. She did so immediately.

I called Paul who was upstairs cleaning the shower, and explained what had happened. It was a big shock and by then the terrified starling had got free and was flying about in a panic. The poor little bird hid behind the sofa and then flew up onto the wooden curtain rail using it like a perch. Then Paul speaking gently, encouraged the starling to be calm. It flew into the conservatory and went near the jasmine where Paul caught it in a towel and slowly set it free into the garden. The starling seemed physically unharmed by the ordeal and flew off at speed, into a big rowan tree two gardens away.
Thank goodness Paul coped so well. I admit I was just flummoxed!

Both cats looked crest fallen and went around smelling all the places the starling had been. They must have incredible senting abilities.

Well I hope that doesn't happen again but there are no guarantees. Somehow, the cats had knocked down the bird table. Paul is going to stake it into the lawn.

Have a good day blip friends and thank you for visiting my site today.
