Fashion Line

Today's image is another in my emergency washing lines series. My sister had pinned this dress out to dry and as it had been another un-summer like dull and breezy day I was immediately attracted by the bold colours and fabulous design (the long grass was my own designer touch!) and needed to find out more.
It's actually a vintage dress that my sister picked up at a second hand stall in London by the fashion house Clements Rebeiro which was established there in the early 1990's by the husband and wife partnership Suzanne Clements and Inacio Rebeiro known for its bold prints and designs and knitwear.
Brazilian-born Inacio Rebeiro and British-born Suzanne Clements met on their first day at Central St Martins in London where they enrolled on the MA fashion course led by Wendy Dagworthy. They graduated with Firsts and married a year later, establishing their eponymous brand in 1993 after finding it impossible to get a job in London and deciding doing their own thing made sense.
By 1997 they were being heralded by Vogue as one of fashion's Magnificent Seven - alongside Tom Ford, Miuccia Prada, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Yohji Yamamoto and Karl Lagerfield - and would go on to be stalwarts of London Fashion Week.
Since 2008 the label has undertaken a series of projects focused around upcycling alongside its main collection. Projects have included dresses, skirts and shirts made of vintage scarves, 'collage' dresses combining found fabrics and collaborations with textile artists.
I wanted to add a musical accompaniment to my blip so of course it just had to the iconic David Bowie track Fashion!
