Kayaking the Little Miami
Thursday
With a sunny day on the cards, we had planned to go kayaking on the Little Miami River, from Karl Rahe Park, down to Lake Isabella Park in Loveland, about 7 1/2 miles. This is a stretch I hadn’t done before, Roger thinks he may have done it once many years ago. I packed us a picnic to enjoy along the way, loaded the kayaks on the car, and set off, dropping one car at the end point, and continuing up to the drop in point. There was another, younger, couple in the car park, inflating their inflatable kayaks. We stopped after about 2 1/2 miles for our picnic (main image in collage), then continued on to Nisbett Park in Loveland, centre left photo, where the O’Bannon Creek flows into the Little Miami. We continued under a couple of bridges, the big one, lower row, centre, being the I-275 bridge, the main circular route around Cincinnati. Our take out point, lower right, was soon after that. It had turned out really quite hot, so we were glad to reach the end! At this point, I stayed with the kayaks, while R drove the Tesla back to the starting point, and drove the Acura with the kayak bars, back to me. Then we drive back to the start to pick up the other car!
By the time we got home, we felt quite exhausted, so after a welcome cup of tea, we both showered, then went out to eat. Now, I think I’m ready for bed!
