Lynne’s show

My knees were sore after our walk yesterday. The damp weather doesn’t help. (Cool, showers today - when will we get summer? Half the world is sweltering and people are dying from the heat).

I did the spellcheck on my Blurb book and finalised the layout and background page colour.

Tomorrow we are doing our last school pick-up as when James starts Middle School in September he’ll be walking home with Thomas or his friends. One of his friends is coming for a meal tomorrow and bringing his mum and older sister. James is on cook duty and is doing burgers and wedges. I’m the sous chef under his instruction - we’ll provide tatties from Mr C’s garden for the wedges. #2 daughter finds the family a struggle. Their English is limited - they are Chinese and James befriended the boy when he arrived at his school and some boys were unkind to him. Daughter is hoping I can converse with the mother about Hong Kong as she finds them hard work. The woman’s parents probably wouldn’t have been born when we lived there from 68-70!

We went to Linda and Colin’s for high tea which was delicious as always. A watercress, radish and hazelnut salad, a creamy, slightly spiced aubergine and broad bean dish and home made cornbread. We were all supposed to be going to The Odd Couple in the village hall but Linda confessed she was feeling too tired as was Colin who had been all the way up to Berwick for his Parkinson exercise class.

Lynne was not acting in her Portable Theatre Company’s production this year. She was the director. It was so good. The talent some people have is always wonderful to see. We laughed and laughed. After congratulating Lynne, who is coming to watch with Gavin next week, we headed home.
