The Pensioner

Daylight Approaches

The flight was supposed to land at 00:40 but it ran a bit late. By the time we arrived back at the gaff it was after 3am and the sky to the north east was beginning to lighten.
Managed a decent snooze thereafter and it was a busy day for the first one back. A spot of essential tidying up in the garden followed by a trip to that nice dental hygienist chappy, and finally a boat club meeting. The usual low level stuff but our harbour sec is groaning under the weight of his responsibilities, which are pretty immense and continuous. Part of the problem is that the previous harbour sec was a bit Gordon Brownish - he wanted to be across all the detail of everything and gathered too much into the role, so we discuss splitting off some responsibilities. Finding volunteers however is easier said than done.
And standing in the carpark in the spitting rain afterwards with the C we discuss his own succession plans. As VC the job is mine if I want it. But not this year, no no. That's much too soon.
