AND AWAY

The Grand £10 Railway Challenge . . . Episode 3 . . . another mad cap day.
Some Blippers may remember that M expertly plans railway routes to see just how far we can travel in one day on a  cheap ticket. The rules are that we can only use Northern Rail Trains and have to set off after 9AM. Previous episode here and here . . . so . . . could we set a new mileage record ?
All went well until one guard would not let us on his train as it was due to leave . . . doors firmly closed after a run down the platform. Luckily that gave us some time to recover. Then a lorry hit a railway bridge, which meant no trains via Barnsley. resulting in another missed connection . . . so . . . on we went. An aerial view from a viaduct of The Great Yorkshire Show, where the crowds seemed to be having a wonderful time. A quick re-plan meant that Ilkley became the furthest station . . . and then a run back home . . . missing only the first 20 minutes of the footie.
That record . . . oh yesss . . . a new one of 311 miles in total, with 11 hours of moving.
Main image shows the Station Route Map at the start of travel, with extras of the Cow & Calf Rock in Ilkley and, finally a map of the route.
Take care all . . .
