Degrees

It was our turn for graduation today. We had an excellent honorary graduate - Síofra O'Leary, until about a week ago the President of the European Court of Human Rights, the first woman to hold that post. She gave an excellent short acceptance speech, resonant of her unassuming character. Even the rain and the student protests (on this occasion somewhat annoyingly in the hall) couldn't dampen the atmosphere. Or the cold I've been running for a couple of days which means that I am getting up in the morning feeling absolutely terrible until my chest calms down.

I spent the afternoon in quiet contemplation of my laptop, clearing stuff off my to do list, before walking over to EFI for the graduation dinner. I was seated next to someone really interesting, but unfortunately the format of the dinner meant that there was very little time for chats.

Home in a taxi not too late, but it took a while for me to get to sleep, so that won't help the cold symptoms in the morning.
