Red Squirrel

 After a very damp start, we managed to find a few dry-ish hours this afternoon to have a wander in the Forest of Galloway. 
We started up at the Red Deer Range where there were plenty of does hanging around the viewing area. Sadly, there were no stags visible today. 
Next we stopped to see if there were any wild mountain goats about - just the one. 
Finally we dropped in at Killoughtree again for a piece of peppermint slice and a drink, and 90 minutes in the woodland hide. Once again the woodpeckers and Jay were hogging the limelight, but this time there were a couple more visits from the red squirrels. Not much chance to get them away from the feeders, but this one was a bit more tentative on his approach which gave a nice opportunity for this shot.

Thanks for following along with our holiday this past week. I'll try and catch up a tad once I'm home, but may well just start afresh tomorrow as I've got quite a few things on when we get back.
