Cauld On A Summer Day

The shopping done, coffee enjoyed at Penicuik Storehouse and still the sun shone so we drove to Peebles to walk by the Tweed.

First we watched from the bridge as the local heron came in to land - it looks quite strange from above.

Then we walked upstream, passing the cauld, where the heron had relocated (it's that small white dot at the far end) and on for a while, watching a young robin feed, a wren nipping around a hazel bush and goosanders leisurely grooming in the shallows.

I did pop into a few charity shops, of course, I look forward to reading Marram, by Leonie Charlton, about her travels in the Outer Hebrides.

The day ended with a striking sunset, see extra.
