Reykjavik, Iceland - day 1

We disembarked MS Maud this morning after 9 days onboard and walked the 10 minutes from the port to our little local hotel. We were able to check in and go straight to our room even though it was only 9.30 am. After a coffee and a look at the map we headed off into town. Before lunch we visited the Reykjavik Art Museum and the Museum of Photography, then met our guide at 1.30pm for a two hour guided walk around the town. It was a big group but the guide, Olof, was excellent. She had lived in Glasgow for a couple of years as a child and had the ability to change from an Icelandic accent to a Scottish one without hesitation. After the tour we had a short break then walked up through the main shopping street, doing a bit of window shopping, then round to see the Hallgrimskirkja, the iconic and imposing church on the hill.
Back to the hotel for a wee rest before dinner and I was delighted to find that the hotel wifi is so much better than the ship’s, so I’ve been able at last, to add an extra, of a few other sights along the way.
