Shore reflections

Cycle ride first thing; just about warm enough for shorts in a light West wind. Went out by George St and the West end to the Roseburn path then the Blackhall path, to Silverknowes and the beach. Bike in extra where I stopped for the view through the trees over the golf course.
Saw a heron fishing in the brackish water which is draining below Lauriston castle, and a black headed gull stooping on it. There was a curlew, too. Tide well out.

Early evening walk later on when it was calm down the Water of Leith path in search of swans. This time we found a lot of mallards in at least four different groups of six or so, and some swan feathers on last year's roost on the cushions at Coalie Park, but no swans. Back by tram.
