Growing old disgracefully

By GOD

I like the way...

...this Hydrangea petiolaris lights up the evening in this dark corner at the end of the garden...and so does this late flying bee.

We are taking the VIP and his mummy on holiday tomorrow, so I have been going round the garden wishing everything well for a week. Part of me hates to leave the garden in the spring or summer, but part of me knows it will do fine without me. I sat out as the sun went down, stripping black currants from their stalks and chopping up courgettes for soup to freeze. Yes, folks, the glut has arrived.
