Our Day
We were up at 6:00. I made breakfast and lunch sandwiches, filled the cooler with drinks, the bag with snacks and we were on our way by 7:30 which we thought would get us to the fields way early. We hadn’t counted on a pup being lost and traveling down a busy country road. The police blocked traffic in both directions and tried to get a leash on that mongrel. Even treats were useless. I believe the owner finally arrived as the dog ran behind our car. She spoke with the deputies, they packed up and we were finally moving again. Then we find out the game will start at 8:50 vs 9:00. We somehow arrived in time to unload the truck, carry our chairs to the edge of the playing field and watch our boys pull out a 7-6 win in the last few minutes. They had trouble in games two and three which we lost but the scores were respectable. Our last game was decided by sudden death play. Parker played really good in each game. It should have boosted his confidence for sure. We will be back there tomorrow for another 8:50 game. I think we’ll have at least one more after that. The kids did not want to go watch polo at a winery by the hotel so rather than hang out with Jamie’s family, we headed back to our camper. We passed a winery sign a few miles before our road so hubby and I decided to share a flight of four wines in tiny carafes. We took a wrong turn and did a long loop before we finally reached our destination. The scenery was beautiful along the way and at the vineyard. There was a tiny chapel also on the grounds. We came across the flowers during our travels. It is time to finish making dinner. It wasn’t quite as hot as the two previous days: high was 91°F with heat index of 96°F. We had shade of the first game and part of the second. It is supposed to be warmer the next two days. I hope your weather isn’t as bad. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “There's a lot of optimism in changing scenery, in seeing what's down the road.” - Conor Oberst
