Matterhorn

Chamois.
Photo: first sight on arrival in Buissson, in the Aosta valley, is this striking image of the Matterhorn.

We have just experienced a flavour of Italian life. I sat next to our driver in the mini van, a glamorous Italian woman , who picked collected us  from Milan for the two hour drive up into the Aosta valley.

Once we hit the motorway I watched in horror as the speedometer climbed to 140 kph. Her mobile phone rang. So she took both hands off the steering wheel bent down and picked it up.  No she did not answer it but switched it off.

Now for the  final leg of our journey. We board a cable car with all our luggage for  Chamois, a small rustic village , a  community of 100 , totally traffic free , with it own ski slopes. The steepness of the slopes takes me by surprise and the scenery is stunning with , like another world , of an era past.
We are here at last for the wedding of our niece to her Italian husband tomorrow.
A hundred guests have been invited with some coming in from  Lagos, Zurich, Genoa, Milan and of course England and ourselves from Scotland.
It promises to be a very memorable Italian wedding.
