Turas

I took a trip over to the Birks Cinema in Aberfeldy this morning to attend their monthly Gaelic Cafe.  I would like to attend more often but rely on lifts as public transport to there on a Saturday morning is not great.

They generally start with a talk or film in the auditorium followed by conversations. Today we watched Turas (Trip)  a short film about how an understanding of Gaelic can help in understanding the landscape. It is a work in progress and although short was interesting to see and sparked an interesting discussion (in Gaelic and Beurla as not everyone there (including my lift) had Gaelic).

Heavy rain this afternoon meant I was unable to work in garden as planned and so I started work on my next genealogy project. This is focus on my Irish ancestors (4 2nd great-grandparents and 3 3rd great -grandparents who left Ireland for Dundee, primarily to work in the mills).

This is prompted by a trip to Ireland we are planning in the autumn in which we will visit (some of the) places  where our ancestors come from - in T's case this is nearly all of his 2nd great-grandparents.
