Waiting

After checking out of the hotel, we took the metro to the outstanding "Blue Planet" aquarium. A managed to see sea otters for the first time: they had half-a-dozen, rescued from the wild in Alaska, and they played as cutely as I remember when I saw them before. As well as a vast walk-through "ocean", including hammerhead sharks, there was a large area hosting a wonderful rainforest ecosystem. This had tiny frogs on the forest floor, large arapaima fish (that I'd never heard of before) in a "river", small numbers of butterflies, birds and bats, and a couple of photogenic sloths. I've seen many such displays over the years, and this was the best. Similarly, the tropical fish were active in a huge tank, with some very attractive and varied coral.

After almost two hours we left to go one stop on the metro to the airport. This was very peaceful, and we're now in Edinburgh, waiting for the carry-on luggage we checked in as a favour.

After last night's dramatic football, I hope that it's even better tonight!
