Nicky and her Nikon

Lavender

We woke up to rain, so there was no way Xena would enjoy a walk in those conditions. It suited me as I had a very busy day, and Gavin, who was WFH said he would walk her later when he some work calls to make...multi tasking can be done by men! Thankfully the rain stopped and we have even had sunny periods today, in between the showers.

The election results were as expected and Luke reports that the markets were unchanged this morning with a change of government coming in, which is good. There is always talk about our peculiar 'first past the post' system of voting and consequent allocation of seats, and the extra shows something of how that effects the results. I am pleased that all my children took the election seriously and tried to get informed about what they were voting for - and voted. Too many people cannot be bothered. They all voted for different parties too!

Today is governors' day at the school which closes with the final year musicians' concert followed by a dinner. Traditionally the governors all stay over tonight at a hotel in the village where they have stayed for the last hundreds of years - the hotel is grade II listed but in reality it is a bit of a dump in desperate need of an upgrade and I avoid staying there if I can. I have always had Xena as my excuse to come home after the dinner, only to return in the early morning for the chapel service and prize giving. However, now that Tommy is at home I find I have no excuse and Gavin insists that I stay over...so I quickly packed a bag this morning, having to decide what to wear tomorrow when the forecast is for cool weather so not exactly a summer outfit. Gavin left at lunch time to go to all the governor meetings and other end of term things he has to attend but I am going later.

I had all sorts of errands to do, a trip to the Post Office, grocery shopping, then back to the optician to get my new prescription lenses fitted. Inca is arriving tonight so I made supper for her and Tommy.

I found out today that one of my prints from the exhibition at the RAC Club was sold, I did not even realise that the prints could be bought, so that is a unexpected (small) windfall.

This lavender was not from my garden, I wished my lavender looked like this!
