Election Day

As it was a lovely sunny day I decided to go up to the Epsom Downs to visit Langley Vale Wood, which is a WWI centenary woods. There are usually poppies growing there in the summer and I wanted to see them. In addition to all the beautiful wild flowers and poppies there are also a few installations dotted around the area, the most well known being 'The Regiment of Trees' consists of twelve figures carved in sandstone representing some of the 20,000 volunteers for the 2nd London Division which was inspected by Lord Kitchener in January 1915 on Epsom Downs, during a blizzard! Some of the figures are in uniform with rifles but others are in civilian clothes because there were insufficient uniforms and there were only 100 rifles. You can see one of these soldiers in my extra.

I then went to get a click and collect parcel from Waitrose and return another, I am trying to find an outfit for an occasion so I have had a few parcels going back and forth but I have now found the perfect dress! As I was buying a coffee from a local café I heard my name being called and it was a teacher who taught all three boys at prep school, she had recognised me but I did not recognise her at first!

Before lunch Tommy, (who was working from home today) and I went to vote in the general election - this is the first time he has voted and I am pleased to see that he did much background reading into the various parties and candidates before voting - we ended up voting for the same candidate! The voting was very quick and efficient, we were in and out in minutes.

Luke and Meriel were lucky enough to go to Wimbledon tennis today, they got a good day for it as it was sunny.

We have a very busy weekend ahead of us so I will enjoy a quiet night tonight.
