Everyday Life

Anniversary!

Although my first ever Blip was posted on 8 July 2013 Blip has decreed that today is my 11 year Anniversary. I suppose this is due to Leap Years...

First thing this morning I went out to cast my vote. Not that I think it will make much difference to our lives, whoever gets in. I don't think much will change... I hope to be proved wrong. There might be a bit less outright dickheadery at least...

After putting my X in the box I'd planned to go for a walk, but I had a text from Brian to tell me that the quilt cover for the bed in the spare room was on the way. I had to go straight home and wait in for it, so that was pretty much my morning gone. At least I was able to do some more laundry, and dry it outdoors too!

The quilt cover is lovely but will have to go back as we ordered the wrong size, having forgotten we had got a king-size quilt to allow for some overhang! So at some point next week I will have to wait in again.

This evening Brian and I had an early tea before travelling over to Woodhall Spa where I grew up, to go to the famous old film theatre the Kinema in the Woods. We saw the latest movie in the horror franchise A Quiet Place, which was good enough and featured a lovely cat! The visit was more about the venue tonight though really, and we picked tonight to do it for my Blip milestone.

It was the first time I had been there for 40-odd years, and it has changed since then in that it has had another couple of screens added and has counters selling sweets, ice cream and drinks rather than just a trolley that comes around with ice creams at the intermission. But the décor and much of the artefacts are the same - and the new additions are very much in keeping with the old ones.

The ice cream cart is still there, just as a display piece now. They still have an intermission with ice cream for sale too, though I refrained from indulging on this occasion.

The first time I ever went to the cinema was to see Alien. I went with a couple of school friends for my 16th birthday. One of my friends and I walked home down a path that ran beside the woods at the back of the shops. It was quite hair-raising after a movie which had some scary scenes!

The drive out of the car park takes you along a narrow wooded lane too...
