Blinded by the light

Somewhat unflattering photo of G, who managed to blink while I was taking the photo. It was her birthday today (and also the 27th anniversary of our move to France), so Ingrid took us all out to lunch at La Bonbonne in Saint Laurent. It's a lovely place to be on a sunny day, with its glorious shady garden. The food is good too -- lots of shareable plates including many vegetarian choices. We did grossly over-order, but over a period of two hours we managed to eat most of it. Ingrid and G even left space for dessert. It was so nice to go out for a meal -- it seems like ages since we've done so.

Back home, then S went to the physio and I had a brief siesta. We're hoping to stay up at least for the exit poll. Then I might go to bed and get up again later! We are rather poorly supplied with snacks, but honestly we are unlikely to have hunger pangs. I'm up for some cheese on toast and that's about it. We'll probably save the cava till tomorrow.

We have very fond memories of election night in 1997 (the last British election we voted in). We stayed up most of the night with our neighbours A and D at their house; A was a long-time Tory voter but was furious with the Tories for wrecking the construction industry (he's an architect). Absolute scenes at the swamping of Michael Howard and, of course, the iconic Portillo moment. Much fizz was consumed. Let's hope there are similar moments tonight.
