The Deer Hunter

I was in Zurich, virtually, all day and wondered if I’d manage to stay awake to see The Deer Hunter as it didn’t start till 9pm. We’d bought the tickets a while back, not knowing I’d be doing an a online assessment today.

However, I didn’t close my eyes at all. Well, accept for the Russian roulette scenes, and that was out of choice. I find it incredible that it’s been out for 46 years and this is the first time I’ve seen it. It was amazing to see Robert de Niro and Meryl Streep looking so young and, clearly, already brilliant actors. What a film of love and friendship. It’ll stay with me for a long time.

Good news about C’s dilemma yesterday. The director said he hadn’t quite understood all the ins and outs of his request and has found somebody else to take over the evening course. C’s delighted!
