True Colours
I love to see fields full of lilac flowers. I saw a swathe of flax in full bloom the other morning but by mid afternoon there was little colour left. Each flower only lasts a day. I haven't seen any lucerne lately but that gives a beautiful purple haze. Morphine poppies are being grown here now and fill the fields with a sheet of cool light lilac.
My pic is borage, you can buy a tiny pack of the flowers in Waitrose as a cucumber-tasting garnish for when it's Pimm's o'clock. :) From a distance one sees a lilac mist but up close one can see the true colours. Most of the flowers are blue with a few freshly opened pink ones. The stems are pink too. Bees love it.
There are a few yellow charlock flowers amongst the borage and a field in the distance is all yellow. Surely it's too late for oil seed rape? Hope that isn't a field full of charlock.
