Calais
I decided not to try to cross Paris this morning as it would have meant hitting some of the rush-hour and I could see on the Internet that traffic jams were already building at 7 am. I took a slower route via Rouen and arrived in a suburb of Calais at lunchtime. There was time for a very pleasant walk along the river to the chemist to buy some eye ointment. Tomorrow we will take the tunnel and should be with friends in Essex mid morning. I am following both elections with interest. It seems that the conservative strategy in the UK is to try to limit turn out. In France, the attempts to block the National Rally extreme right wing party by withdrawing other candidates in third position in the first round, has only had partial success.
