Lift No P16

Every day I learn something new.

I had a conversation with my sister this morning. She manages an Arts Centre, and a lift isn’t working. It is a legal requirement that every lift has to have a telephone connection (I didn’t know that), and because BT are moving the whole system from analogue (those copper wires) to digital, the lift needs a new connection (and a SIM card) at a cost of £1000. Another cost she and her trustees have to factor in. Fortunately they’ve never had any grant funding so the big cuts affecting Arts organisations across the country don’t affect them.

She’ll have to be there very early tomorrow morning to open the building up so the election officers can set the polling station up.

I only go to the Trafford Centre when I have to, and this afternoon I had to. An escalator wasn’t working so I took the lift, and thought this might fit today’s theme.
