The Reward
Owen had a day off from saving pets and seemed happy enough to share it with us. I swung-by our lock-up in Embra and emptied just about everything, probably one more load to go, and then collected him from his flat. We stopped at the cafe in Soutra for a coffee and toilet break en route to the Borderland.
The lovely lady who sold us her home had been a little naughty and left one or two unwanted items including a 1980s MFI style triple wardrobe. Unfortunately, it won't fit in our van in one piece so Owen volunteered for a session with the circular band saw and rapidly turned it into van-sized bits. Then we headed off to the nearby garden centre to add to our collection of gardening things. I was particularly happy with the weed blowtorch thingy which made short work of the weeds in the monobloc.
Earlier, I watched a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker doing its thing on our cherry tree as I munched on my breaky toast. No sign of The Cheviot at the moment with blanket cloud stretching into the horizon.
As a thank you for his good work, we fed Owen BBQ and beer until everyone decided it was too cold to sit outside and we retreated inside.
A final word of wisdom, don't put-off painting your garage door when the sun shines.
