Redstart Chicks …

… under the pergola in the garden. They are so big now, hardly room for four but will they survive? Preston and Nexy spend a lot of time on the deck under the pergola.
ACTION FOR THE TETRA LYRE ( BLACK GROUSE).
Today was a day of heavy physical graft (Lindsey in action in extra) shifting green alder branches of all shapes and sizes up on the Bovonne alpage. This is specifically to recreate space for the Black Grouse to nest and to feed. Many farmers have reduced their livestock so the organisation doing this work is reintroducing goats in particular to eat the invasive green alder which is altering the biodiversity of many alpages and making them too acidic for their natural plants which are the food of the black grouse. I shall be having a very early night!
