SUPERSTITION

DURING THE PLAGUE YEARS, DOCTORS WORE MASKS FILLED WITH JUNIPER BERRIES AS THEY THOUGHT THE PLAGUE WAS SPREAD BY BAD ODORS

People began eating juniper, drinking wine infused with juniper, bathing in juniper and covering themselves with juniper oil. This is considered superstition by modern historians, but juniper oil is an effective natural flea repellent.

I've had a whirlwind kind of a day.  Non-stop post holiday jobs:  4 loads of washing and drying - eventually.  Cleaning, shopping for essentials, writing condolence cards and completing postal votes, making arrangements for attending my BinL's funeral in Norfolk on the 11th oh and a much needed hairdo.

Very grateful to have been invited to our friends C&K for dinner and first a much needed sit down with a sizeable G&T whilst being lulled into full relaxed mode by the fish in her amazing pond.  Lucky I didn't doze off there and then! On the subject of Superstition then Gemdog is lying next to me so perhaps the gin will repell any fleas he might have but which I'm sure he hasn't!

Great to hear all about K's 3 weeks in New Zealand to visit family who she hadnt seen for some 10 years and then we recounted our lovely trip.

Posting a day late.  Sooo tired last night.
